Panther Team getting awards from Solihull County Scout Council for recognition of support to Scouting in Solihull.

During December 2009 the Scouts ran their own postal service delivering letters around Wythall & Hollywood. At the cost of 20p a letter, their own postage stamp and four post boxes around the village the scouts raised £292.58. It also saved the elderly from going out in the treacherous snowy conditions to deliver their Xmas cards. With each Scout allocated a post round and four sub post masters sorting the mail, it proved very popular to the local people in Wythall & Hollywood. |
Monsoon

In April 2010 our local curry house, Monsoon Restaurant on May Lane Hollywood helped us to raise another £530. Providing us with a lovely four course meal we sold tickets and had a great night out. A local knowledge quiz proved good fun which ended with a highly competitive father and son final. Thank you to Mahmud and all his staff for a great night out and delicious food. |

In June 2010 we launched the very first 5km run and fun run in Wythall. This proved to be wonderful community family day for everyone in the local area. With 200 runners for the 5km fun and another 150 for the fun run around Wythall Park it was heralded a huge success and hopefully will become an annual event. Next year’s event will take place on Sunday 20thJune 2011. Check out our website for more detailswww.wythall-hollywood-funrun.org.uk |
Cult Cycles

The local cycle shop in Earlswood, Cult Cycles, organised an annual cycle race in March 2010. Cubs along with their parents and Leaders were on hand to wash down their dirty bikes on return and feed the hungry cyclists with bacon rolls. Cult Cycles kindly donated £250. They also became involved with our sponsored LeJog cycle ride becoming a much valued sponsor. |

Grand Panther Charity May Ball – Web Site Review
What a night!
We all had a fantastic time at Park Hall on Saturday 15th May for the black tie ball to raise more much needed funds for our new head quarters.
The day started early for those plucky volunteers who transformed Park Hall Wythall into a beautifully dressed venue for our event. Swathes of luxurious fabric lined the walls, hundreds of balloons and streamers in our scouting colours bedecked tables fit for royalty, and the whole room looked amazing – a real credit to everyone there.
Our guests were greeted with champagne and canapés and Zach Sheppard and Richard Bell did a really professional job of taking the many welcome photos for our guests.
The up close magician Damon Conlan was amazing and luckily there were no accidents involving cutting people in half!
After dinner, Caroline Powell and Nicky Sheppard launched the Buy a Brick scheme and this was an excellent opportunity to kick things off - £1300 raised on the night.
The Celebrity Ex-Scout Auction went really well with that now famous comedy partnership Whale and Meakin (available for bookings!) leading the bidding with aplomb. A total of £1197 was raised for this.
And then we had the band Bourbon Street who were great and got everyone up and shaking their booty until gone midnight.
Our sponsors Chris and team from Davies Timber Ltd really enjoyed themselves and were extremely generous, boosting our funds with yet more contributions.
Everyone without exception had a fabulous time and remarked favourably on all aspects of the event – many cannot wait until the next time.
There are not enough good adjectives in the dictionary to describe how well it went, generosity peaked on the night and without sounding too schmaltzy there was a lot of love in the room!
A massive thank you goes out to everyone for supporting us.
The money is still rolling in for different elements such as photographs but as of 18th May we have so far raised £2872 for the ball alone.
We are now going to organise a less formal Christmas party in December so hope to have lots more of you boogying then!
WELL DONE EVERYONE!!
